Beautiful Beaches in Turks and Caicos

When one thinks about the Caribbean, images of clear turquoise water and white sandy beaches typically comes to mind.  The beautiful islands of Turks and Caicos hold exactly that.  If you are looking for the true Caribbean beach experience, look no further – Turks and Caicos is where it’s at.  Here are some of the best beaches to check out while you are enjoying your Caribbean vacation.

Grace Bay Beach – The World’s Best Beach

Most people come to the island of Providenciales (or Provo as the locals call it) when they fly into Turks and Caicos, as a great many of the popular Turks and Caicos Resorts can be found there.  Provo is also home to Grace Bay Beach, recently voted The World’s #1 Beach by Condé Nast Traveler. Although most of the major resorts are built along this stretch of magnificent beach, there are no big box resorts typical to what you would find in some of the more “busy” Caribbean destinations such as Cancun or the Bahamas. The hotels along Grace Bay Beach are smaller and more intimate.  For example, Seven Stars Resort is one of the larger hotels in the resort, and it boasts only 115 suites.  So even though this area has many hotels along its periphery, there are still many long stretches of beach that remain quiet, peaceful and unoccupied, particularly in the Leeward area, where many private villas are available for rent.

Sandy Point – North Caicos

North Caicos is about 12 miles northeast of Provo, and is considered to be the lushest of all the islands due to the abundant rainfall in the area. In North Caicos not only will you find abundant greenery, you will also find the most caves you can explore in the Caribbean. Sandy Point Beach is located on the North Caicos island, and although not awarded the title of “world’s best beach”, it is simply beautiful.  This beach has recently seen some hotel development, allowing more travelers to enjoy its many beauties; however it is still remote and peaceful.

Pine Cay

Known for its white sand private beach, Pine Cay is less than one mile wide and two miles long.  Pine Cay was home to the first tourism development in Turks and Caicos when The Meridian Club was established in the early 1970’s.  Today, it is a privately owned island with around 36 homeowners and one exclusive resort.  It is also a popular spot for a private, secluded “beach escape”, an activity offered by tour and adventure companies such as Big Blue.   Enjoy a day on a secluded piece of white sand beach complete with lounge chairs, umbrella and a picnic of your choice.  A true fantasy come to life.

Bright Idea – private villa rental on Chalk Sound

Southwest of downtown Provo you will find a 3 mile long bay where the water is the color of turquoise paradise studded with “mushroom-esque” little islets – truly Provo’s most impressive natural attraction.  Although not so much of a beach per say, the shallow lagoons and iridescent turquoise blue water make it a must see on a trip to Turks and Caicos and a vacation at a beautiful villa such as Bright Idea, with its own private beach, would ensure that you enjoy the view minute by minute.  And while you are there, be sure to include a stop to Las Brisas, a Caribbean alfresco dining experience with a Mediterranean flare.  The menu is only second to the dazzling views, both day and night.

If you are looking for the idyllic Caribbean vacation with white sandy beaches and crystal clear turquoise water, look no further than the Turks and Caicos Islands.  From Grace Bay Beach to Chalk Sound, there are amazing beaches, lagoons, resorts and dining to experience at every turn.
